Dedicated to highlighting the time Bennett-Day and her family lost as her youngest brother underwent four years of chemotherapy treatment, Lost Time is a collection of photographs and text presented in the style of a hardcover book that was been presented in the Format23 Performing Photobook Festival in March 2023. Bennett-Day recorded everyday occurrences and places them in the context of writings by herself, her siblings, and her parents on their experiences dealing with a loved one who battled cancer. The photographs show a content family, yet the language pushes the audience to comprehend the deeper context behind the title, showing the suffering a family goes through with a sick child. The intention of Bennett-Day’s project, is to raise awareness of the hardships that families—particularly siblings—face when a member of the family is severely ill; the internal suffering they experience whilst having to continue to live normally.
